Dal T Nor
Seated in the center of the Vale rests the capital city of Dal T'Nor. The only truly urban settlement, it is home to roughly 12,000 souls from every race in the Vale. The entire city from the outskirts to the centrally-located temple of Dal Marrow? is organized in co-centric rings and joined by thoroughfares radiating out from the temple.
On its outskirts? Dal T'Nor is dominated by rolling farmlands, wooded streams and small clusters of ramshackle houses. Grains, greens, catato? and other crops cover the fields and herds of elk, swine and trison? roam the fallow fields. Local lords oversee a handful of farms and keep elegant manors nearby, usually on the choicest plots of land.
A wreath of sturdy wooden fence posts mark the entrance of the Commoner's Market where all manner of mundane goods are brought in from the farms and traded with the city folk. Traffic through here is heavy and people come and go freely. There are many inns, brothels and public houses as well as some of the more common craftsman. Also located here is Herald's Square where the news of the day is posted on many large slate slabs.
The interior boundary of the commoners market is marked by a low granite wall that parts only at each of the three major thoroughfares. There city officials keep watch to ensure the peace and uninterrupted commerce. Within the walls lies [[Places/Dal TNor New Town|New Town}] where the works of the urban artisans and imports from throughout the Vale are bought, sold and bartered. Elegant eateries and luxurious inns offer their services at a high price.
The affluent Outer Sanctum, sometimes referred to as Old Town, is guarded by the city's original towering basalt walls. Inside dwell the Vale's wealthiest urbanites and most gifted craftsmen. The cities oldest structures, save Dal Marrow? itself, stand here. The scant few purveyors of mystic goods can be found here if one knows where to look.
And standing timeless at the its heart, the seed in thought and form from which Dal T'Nor sprang, older than the recorded history of the Vale is Dal Marrow?. The tranquil stronghold of philosophy, knowledge and discipline where the Order of the Way make their homes. All are welcome to study, meditate and hone their physical prowess here among the monks and clergy.
Dal T'Nor has no police force to speak of, but when the need arises the monks of Dal Marrow answer the citizens' calls for justice. Otherwise, the local merchants and the elected officials keep things running smoothly. That is until lately. An emerging gang of thugs and cut-purses calling themselves the Brotherhood have been making life difficult for both honest merchant and fellow foot pad alike.
